According to Kachikwu, the order was given to the Pipeline Products Marketing Company (PPMC) for them to embark on special supply intervention measures to ensure country-wide availability of product ahead of the yuletide and beyond.
The minister also revealed that the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has confirmed that daily fuel trucks which leaves depots to Abuja, Kaduna, Enugu, Kano, Ibadan and Jos has increased significantly.
Speaking on the current petroleum scarcity, Dr Kachikwu attributed the situation to panic buying and hoarding, warning all those concerned to demonstrate patriotism.
The Minister also gave assurances that from 2016, Nigeria’s oil sector will experience a turn around that will allow the refineries work effectively, adding that petroleum products will be available to Nigerians at affordable prices.
Meanwhile, the proposed new pump price of petrol by the federal government has been rejected by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC).
Similarly, the Trade Union Congress (TUC) has declared that it will resist the government plans, vowing to stand in the way of implementing the price increase.
Recall that the federal government on Monday, December 14, said it would begin a gradual withdrawal of fuel subsidy next year, which will ultimately lead to the increment in the pump price of petrol.
