See some of the 'reasons' Indian people get married...(photos)

Indians, like some other countries are totally obsessed with marriage and some of the time, for all the wrong reasons. A group of people came up with these tongue-in-cheek photos to trivialize some of what they term 'ridiculous' reasons why they get married. Check them out! Sound familiar? Let's see how long it takes Nigerians to come up with their own. Continue...

What The Witches Said by Reuben Abati

Article by Reuben Abati. Read below...
"How was Christmas?”
“It’s come and gone. Life goes on. We thank God for the gift of life.”
“Life will always go on.”
“But without life, we can’t have hope.”
“Without hope, life has no meaning.”
“I am still in a Christmas mood though. I get a chance to rest a lot during holidays”
“Where were you?”
“I was in my home town, the city of hope. I refused to be deterred by fuel scarcity, the scarcity of cash and the scarcity of goodwill.”
“That your town where nobody sells a brand new car, no single car mart where you can get tear rubber, all the major streets are littered with Tokunbo vehicles on sale. Yeah, the town of hope.”
“Talking about hope, you know. During Christmas, I saw a story about Christmas in Senegal, showing how in a country with about 94% of the population being Muslims, Christmas is celebrated.”
“By Muslims?”
“Yes. Muslims wearing Father Christmas clothes, decorating their homes for Christmas and joining the small percentage of Christians to celebrate.”
“Are you sure the attraction is not commerce? Christmas is big business, and Senegal is a major tourist destination.”
“I think it is more about religious tolerance in that country and people learning to accommodate and enjoy diversity. For me, that is the message. People can belong to different religious faiths and yet live happily together.”
“Hmm. We need that message in Nigeria.”
“Ironically, something like that also actually happened in Nigeria, this Christmas”
“Where?”
 “In Kaduna.”
“When? How?”
“I learnt some Muslim women went to Kaduna prison to give food to prisoners to celebrate Christmas. “
“Christmas or Eid el Maulud? You know there were two events: the birthday of Prophet Muhammed (SAW) and that of Our Lord Jesus Christ.”
“I am sure. The Muslim women visited the prison on Christmas Day. And at the Christ Evangelical Intercessory Fellowship Ministry, also in Kaduna, more than 150 Muslims attended Christmas Day church service.”
“If what you are saying is true, then that is great, beautiful, fantastic.  Religion has done too much damage in our society.  Can you imagine some people going to destroy somebody’s mother’s grave just because they do not like his brand of worship? People should stop killing the living and the dead because of religious differences. We should accommodate our differences and join hands to move Nigeria forward.”
“I know. But how far should this accommodation thing go? Should it also include witches?”
“Witchcraft?”
“Yes.”
“Hey, blood of Jesus!”
“Look at you. Where were you when the other day, the spokesman for the Witches and Wizards Association of Nigeria (WIZAN) issued a press statement saying they the white witches of Nigeria support President Buhari’s anti-corruption campaign”
“White witches. Winch dey get colour?’
“Na so I hear oh. White winch, Black winch, Red winch”
“All of them winching, winching people from the pit of darkness. Chei, blood of Jesus!”
“The spokesman for White Witches said they are good people with members in every state of the Federation and that as patriots, if they are invited, they are ready to assist the government to bring corrupt persons to book.”
“Witches have a spokesman and a nationwide network, and they now issue press statements?  Father, your words are forever true. End time is here! And Nigeria never fails to surprise somebody; everyday, every minute, something new always crops up in this country.”
“I don’t get you. But you just spoke about diversity, accommodation, inclusiveness, and now you are contradicting yourself.”
“Not witchcraft please. Light and darkness cannot mix. I support freedom yes, inclusiveness and all that, but not the kind of support that will take me to Hell-fire.”
“Hell is in your mind. Heaven is a mythological construct. But look at the proposal. The witches want to help the government.”
“How? Will the Federal Government set up a Special Court for White Witches fighting Corruption?”
“I guess they will be very effective. See how you’ve been shivering since you heard that witches have become nationalists and change agents. Only the guilty are afraid.”
“Will they also help to resolve fuel scarcity issues, power supply problems, and reckless driving on our roads?”
“This is a democracy. Let all the flowers bloom.”
Witches don they get spokesman. I thought the law forbids anyone from belonging to a secret society, a cult and so on.”
“Well, as it is the white witches association is no longer a secret society.  They are now in the open. Don’t be surprised if very soon they advertise vacancies for membership.”
“God forbid.”
“Siddon there, dey talk. You’d be surprised how many media houses will collect the adverts, and publish, get paid for services rendered, and claim that this is a democracy.”
“Hmmm”
“See. Smell the coffee. The thing is that even this thing called government is a kind of witchcraft.  White, black and red witchcraft combined; that is what is called government!”
“And that’s why we need spiritual redemption.”
“Keep sermonizing. Were you not in this country when during the last general elections, the National Association of Prostitutes also issued a statement on how the elections should be organized?”
“Prostitutes also have a spokesperson? No shame?”
“It was their President that spoke. They even promised free sex. But I wouldn’t know if they made good on that offer.”
“Wait oh.”
“What?”
“I am trying to remember something.”
“What is that?”
“These your witches and wizards, didn’t they also make certain predictions during the last elections?”
“I don’t remember”
“They did. They openly endorsed President Jonathan. They said they didn’t see any vacancy in Aso Rock in their crystal ball, and they pledged their support.”
“May be the spirits changed and the witches also changed.”
“Ha!”
“It is called change. Once they wave that their broom”
“Witches use broom?”
“Yes. Once they wave that their broom over their magical pot… but let me just advise you, don’t go about questioning the wisdom of witches. It can be dangerous.”
“I am a child of Light.”
“Whatever you are, just know that when a witch strikes you…you can’t do anything to witches. Nobody can catch the air.”
“You are beginning to sound as if you are one of them. And if you are not, well, you may end up becoming a witch yourself.”
“Me? No.”
“It is like you like them.”
“I am just saying in a democracy, you are bound to see all kinds of things. That is why it is a democracy.”
“I know. That is why Donald Trump is getting good ratings in the US Presidential race.”
“Let’s leave witches alone, I beg.”
“But what have they said about this coming year, 2016?”
“How?”
“Any predictions?”
“You don’t need witches to predict any new year.  I can do it myself.”
“I said it. There is something you are not telling me. I wasn’t talking about witches. I was referring to the pastors who always look into the future.”
“Dey there. You don’t need to be a witch or a pastor to make predictions. When I reviewed some of my own projections for 2015, I was almost 80% accurate. You just need to learn how it is done.”
“How?”
“Okay, let me assist you. See in the year of our Lord, 2016, care must be taken in the aviation industry to avoid air mishap. In the course of the year, two prominent Nigerians must pray seriously against bereavement in their families. Two Governors are likely to face the threat of removal from office. And a former state Governor should be careful not to lose his son-in-law. I see fire outbreak in two major markets, North and South, with many casualties. Two First Class Traditional Rulers are likely to join their ancestors before the month of June.  Some directors in the public service will lose their positions.  I see earthquake occurring somewhere in the Pacific. There will be a boom in the Agriculture Sector. 2016 is going to be a year of bountiful harvest. More lives will still be lost to Boko Haram violence.  The Naira will remain unpredictable….”
“What kind of crystal ball do you use, if I may ask?”
“What crystal ball does your Pastor use?”
“My Pastor doesn’t use a crystal ball. He is filled with the Holy Spirit.”
“Many of these Pastors predict so many things and they don’t even get it right. And yet this year again, they will sell books of predictions to their congregation.”
“My own Pastor is a man of God. He is always at least 85% accurate, every year.”
“Well, I have made my own predictions too. You can either believe me or you believe your Pastor; you choose.  But you’d see that I am always very accurate.”
“You are just using commonsense, my friend.”
“And what does your Pastor use?”
“There are people who have the gift of prophecy, they can see into the future. Don’t blaspheme.”  “Don’t worry. When your pastor publishes his book of predictions, get me two copies, please. I am in a generous mood. I don’t have a problem helping him to make quick profit.”
“Only God can forgive you.”
“So, technically speaking, what are you saying?”
“I am saying, that technically, Nigeria will survive 2016, prophecy or no prophecy. God never forsakes his own people.”
“Okay. I understand, you mean technically, the current fuel scarcity will end.”
“Yes”
“And technically, power supply will improve, and we will not have any more Dumsor.”
“What is Dumsor?”
That is how technically, the people of Ghana, describe persistent power outages.”
“But how do our people describe it?”
“They say technically, all our problems will be defeated.”
“You mean, technically, all Nigerians will become prosperous in 2016?”
“Yes”.
“Actually, come to think of it, everything is technical.”
“Oh, certainly, once you understand the technique of the technicality.”
“Like the announcement that the pump price of fuel will be reduced to N85 per litre in January 2016?”
“Yes! You got it! Technically!”
“But I have been buying fuel at N130 per litre.”
“That is the technicality”
“I am confused.”
“That is because you don’t have a gift for technical things.”
“Like witchcraft, yes.”
“Don’t worry, you’d learn. Just have an open mind.”
“But look at this other matter. Even international airlines including British Airways, are now threatening to reduce their flights to Nigeria by early 2016.”
“So?”
“They say they can’t get aviation fuel in Nigeria and that the scarcity of foreign exchange has slowed down the Nigerian economy.”
“They should go and sit down. Otherwise we will give them the MTN treatment. Who is asking foreign airlines to start analyzing Nigeria’s 2016 Budget? If they like let them reduce all their flights. We will defeat those foreign airlines, technically.  In fact, Nigerians will start traveling to Europe, Dubai, wherever, by road. Nonsense!”
“What?”
“Yes, London by road, why not?”

Photo: Lagos doctor dies after attending to patient

A Lagos-based medical doctor identified as Dr Akingbade of Veritas Clinics Limited, College Road, Ifako-Ijaiye Lagos died inside his office shortly after attending to a patient recently. According to a report by Vanguard, family sources say he might have died from exhaustion and stress but also had a history of hypertension. ‎One of the nurses on duty, Toyin Ifesan, while narrating what happened said
“Our boss died at about 10.30pm shortly after he had closed for consultation. He went to see a patient on admission. Thereafter, he retired to his office and sat down. A nurse later went in there to ask him to go upstairs, where we have sleeping facilities, to sleep, having been working since morning.
‎ On getting to the office, the nurse spoke to him but she got no response. She then pushed him, only to find that Dr Akingbade had passed on. The situation attracted everybody in the clinic. He was not sick before death. The only thing we noticed was that, on that day, he was not jovial as he used to be. Unlike him, he talked to the staff without looking at their faces. He looked at the floor while talking to the staff. Our late boss was a very jovial person. He joked a lot with the staff as well as with patients before attending to them. He would ask the patient where he came from, and when he told the place the patient came from, always had one or two things to say about the patients place and people. He was a problem solver when it came to illnesses. If you cry to his office, you will smile coming out. He hardly attended social functions because of the fear that a critically ill patient that may be bought to his clinic may die before returning. So, he was always in the clinic most of the time. Even anytime he hired a doctor to help attend to patients, most of patients still preferred his consultation because of his wide experience. Some would wait, no matter how long, to see him. Others would go and come back.”she said He will be buried early next year.

Woman pens open letter to the woman dating her husband ..and it's epic!

Woman pens open letter to the woman dating her husband ..and it's epic!

A few weeks ago, a wife in Syracuse, New York, posted a "Letter to the Woman Dating my Husband" on Craigslist after she found out that her husband was having an affair while she was out of town. Read below..
"You probably don't even know that we're not separated, and up until I found his dating site profiles, and flew back to try and rescue my marriage, I did not know there was a problem...Be aware that everyday, he wrote me loving, wonderful messages, just as he was talking to you and wooing you.
As far as I knew, we were strong in our relationship. If he's been telling you something different, get my number from him, and let me show you the messages...

So the following may be you, or it may be "multiples" of you. I do not know how many of "you" there are. So read to the end. You'll figure out if it's the guy you're dating. Perhaps one of your friends will see this and figure it out for you..

You left your mascara in my husband's old vehicle (he bought a newer one in late September). It was a shimmery brown Covergirl.

I think you left some clothes here too. I threw them away. You also left a bra. You're size 36 B. I'm a 34C. The bra stank with BO. (Of course, it maybe that it belongs to someone else..... After all, his dating profiles --OurTime.com and Match.com--showed that he was horn-doggin' over a 120 mile radius... )

So he announced we're getting a divorce after I confronted him. He's playing "victim," and telling me it's a BIG misunderstanding, and that I'm being "controlling." I've pointed out that NO woman would agree my behavior is "controlling" after finding her husband's dating profiles which say he's "looking for marriage" to someone else. Unless your version of "controlling" includes an inability to understand I'm upset about the sub-text of "Why can't I go off and search for my next wife?" or "Why can't I just get laid behind your back?"

He claims he found that mascara (used Cover Girl--ick!-- I wear Lancome, which I replace every 6 months because of eye allergies) on the ground at work before I left to go take care of my sick mom in another state. (NO, I didn't just go off and leave him!) It's been in the truck ever since. So.....

The immaculate truck (I've NEVER seen him clean a vehicle in 15 years!) had the mascara in it for 8+ months? And somehow I'd want used mascara he found on the ground? And he saved it, even when cleaning up the truck?

I haven't even mentioned the bra to him. (What's the point?)

Your bag of clothes that you washed inside out: He tried to stop me from throwing some women's and children's clothes away that I found in a bag in the garage, claiming they belonged to our friend M's nephew... (there were some boys clothes, some small girl's clothing, and woman's... so I call BS on that! btw....Nice tastes in shirts. I like Ralph Lauren plaid, too, but you appear to be a bit bigger than me....) he glummly shut up when I cheerily reminded him that M's nephew has grown, so any of the clothes would be out grown.

Well, recently he's lost weight, quit drinking (that was 15 years of h*ll for me and the kids) bought himself a NEW truck (without consulting / asking me). But guess what? That nice house and property you saw, and new truck, and all his new tools? ***I OWN HALF OF ALL OF IT***.

So you won't be living in my nice house, we'll be selling it. And he may not have mentioned all my grad school debt... We'll be splitting that as well. So guess what you have???

You, my dear, are the proud new doormat for a middle-aged man who has been a contractor-type all his life. He's fairly smart though, but at 56 his body will not hold out much longer, and he's doesn't have a wide skill-set. He's somewhat heavy-set, pretty good looking, but he will not be wealthy after we split things (nor will I).

Congrats! He's quite the catch! (Well, it looks that way from the outset, now, before the divorce) My prediction though is that he'll have to move into a little apartment he can afford. (I don't think he thought all these consequences through. Somehow, in his mind, I'd just disappear and leave him with you, the house, the toys, and the assets?)

Oh, and you'll have my dogs, too. They were a present from me to us, and I trained them for a year... but since they're purebreds, guess what? THEY'RE PROPERTY WITH AN ATTACHED VALUE!!!! My guess on their value: They're worth about about $3K. ... Thank you very much!!!! I'll take something of equal value, like the TV, generator, fridge and some of those nifty new tools!

Now, you may have kids (since there were ice cream cones in my pantry and sugary cereal and milk left at the house--I've never seen him eat that crap, ever, in 15 years. btw. The milk went bad. I threw it out. You bought it at Tops in Cicero one evening in late August. I found the receipt. You bought all that weird crap in one evening, after the trip to Fun Junction and then the return to the house.) so, if you have kids, you should know that he has a tendency to over-buy stuff and send the family into debt. There were a few years (before I graduated from grad school) when I had to go to food banks to keep our kids fed. Good luck with that. I'm sure he's changed, although judging from new toys he's bought... maybe not so much.

My advice: Don't marry him. If you do, then HALF OF YOUR STUFF IS HIS! He'll use you up, he's a selfish lover, he's a spend-a-holic, and it's likely he'll revert to booze. His financial decisions will drive you into bankruptcy. (He's done it twice) His family will hate you (they're weird, you'll see), and he has a tendency to do incredibly stupid stuff. Like the type of stuff that will **get YOU in trouble** even though you have no control over his actions/behavior! he'll get mad because you "nag" and say stuff like "Don't drive to work drunk and get in a crash!" <--Yup that's an example of my nagging and controlling behavior...

Of course, since you've been boffing my husband, and you must know I am still in the picture (my stuff is ALL OVER THE HOUSE) ...OR... you may just be incredibly stupid...

Maybe you deserve him.

You and he ruined my life, stole the life I spent 15 years trying to build with him, destroyed my identity... I wish I could say I "wish you the best," but it's more like "I think you're about to get what you deserve."

FYI: He (we) own a new (used) white truck with nice warm leather seats, along with a few other vehicles (which he works on...btw. Some of those classic cars are MINE from before the marriage,) You may have been in his old truck (mascara story). My (our) two dogs are large, gorgeous, "matching" in looks and after initial meeting, well behaved. (Yell the German command "Pluatzen!" to the female, and open your hand as you say it... She will still go right down, in front of you, even from a dead run.) My husband's sister, whose first name starts with "C" has an @ss you could park a Peterbuilt on! We (I) own a gorgeous property with a stream and pond, out in the woods. (That should help for identification purposes!!!)

He went to Fun Junction (btw, he took all the Fun Junction coins I'd saved for sentimental value from when the boys were little--thanks. You stole my memories of my happy days with my children). You googled the address for Fun Junction from our house computer (he hates google and only uses bing), then according to his phone he drove there. Later, you two stopped at Tops in Cicero, bought ice cream cones and sugary cereal (and cheap wine coolers.... eeeewwwww) and you returned to the house. Then YOU googled 15 minutes worth of YouTube videos on "La Lupe"--some kind of weird Cuban singer from the 60s and 70s. You actually put him through 4 videos and 15 minutes worth of that!!!! Hahahahahahah!!!! He had to have been cringing inside, because (and here's a little secret), I liked Salsa until I met him--and he HATED it so much, I gave up ever listening to it.... I wish I could have been a fly on the wall for that one! Pfft. What a guy will go through to get laid....

If you're a real, actually nice person, that has been duped, just know that he's gotten very good at lying. He's a lot of fun. He's a great cook, and a great talker...And he's not single, he's just trying to get laid. Or worse. He's courting you as the next Mrs., knowing that our divorce will leave him very, very financially screwed. And you, my dear, are lookin' to him like his life boat. Get out while you can.

GOOD LUCK WITH HIM! THE PACKAGING IS DAMAGED AND WHAT'S INSIDE IS PRETTY SPENT, TOO!
