How APC Plans To Unite Bello, Faleke
The tumult experienced following the
declaration of Yahaya Bello of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as
the winner of the Kogi state governorship poll is set to be addressed.
This follows a report that the APC, Kogi state chapter, has constituted a Reconciliation Committee that is due for inauguration next week in Lokoja, the state chapter.
Speaking with Daily Post in Abuja on Friday, December 18, Haddy Ametuo, the state chairman of the APC, said the move is aimed at resolving the political clash caused by the sudden death of Prince Abubakar Audu, in which Alhaji Yahaya Bello emerged governor-elect of Kogi state.
According to Ametuo, Audu’s death should unite Kogites rather than divide them.
The APC state chairman also called on Audu’s running mate, Hon James Abiodun Faleke to see what happened as an act of God which is beyond anybody’s control.
He said: “Late Audu’s death should unite Kogites which he stood for and I want to call on Hon James Faleke to accept this as an Act of God so that together we can build the state.
“I want to assure Hon. James Faleke and all Kogites that the governor-elect is a gentleman that would never contemplate harming anybody for political reasons. So Faleke should be free and go to sleep and as a member of Kogi state political family he should be free.
“The national headquarters of the party has done its best by invoking party supremacy in the appropriate manner that would stand the test of time.”
The tension in the Kogi state APC camp has continued to trigger reactions from different quarters.
James Faleke, Bello’s purported deputy, declared that he would not be available for swearing in with Bello on January 27.
Faleke had, upon the death of his principal, Prince Abubakar Audu, written to the INEC asking them to declare him as winner of the polls, despite the INEC having initially declared the poll as inconclusive.

Buhari extols Father Mbaka's courage
President Muhammadu Buhari has said that one of the best exhortations to the nation he has heard from the pulpit was the one made early this year by Father Ejike Mbaka of the Adoration Ministries, Enugu. Receiving Father Mbaka who was on a courtesy call at State House, Abuja on Friday, President Buhari expressed his appreciation of the Catholic priest's exemplary courage.
"Thank
you very much for what you have done and said. It brought you out to
the whole country as a man of courage. It was honest and well delivered.
It has gone into the records as one of the best concerns expressed from
the pulpit, not because it favoured me and my party, the All
Progressives Congress, but because it was good for the country, " the
President told Father Mbaka.
President
Buhari reaffirmed his conviction that change will come to the country,
"with a lot of hard work, despite the security and economic problems."
He appealed for the continued understanding and patience of Nigerians.
Vice
President Yemi Osinbajo, who was present at the President's audience
with Father Mbaka described the priest as a man "who stood for truth and
propriety, and declared corruption unacceptable."
He added that the Buhari administration "is committed to truth and justice, and won't encourage corruption in any way."
Fr.
Mbaka, who in the run up to the 2015 presidential election, told his
teeming followers that erstwhile President Goodluck Jonathan would not
be re-elected because of pervading corruption and insecurity in the
land, said he was happy with the mission and methodology of the Buhari
administration.
He also wished the President a happy 73rd birthday.
I didn’t say petrol will sell for N97/litre -Kachikwu
“I did not say that refined product will sell for N97 next year that is not what I said. I said that between the band of N87 and N97 we are going to look at prices. Today the prices are largely close to N87 so there might be no need to change prices. By January oil may well go up slightly, by February it may go slightly, by April it may come down. It is all a dynamics of what the price of crude is. I have not put a certain figure. Myself and PPPRA we will sit down and do those calculations and be able to announce what price PMS will sell for in January. We do not anticipate any shift in the price of crude today.”he said
